Christmas Packages 2008
Christmas breaks in Cumbria almost certainly can't get better than a stay at the Black Bull Inn, situated in the picturesque village of Nateby, near Kirkby Stephen. This traditional inn offers great hospitality and food throughout the year. Centrally located between the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks, you can make your break as relaxing or exciting as you desire.
Christmas Eve
Arriving on Christmas Eve at anytime in the afternoon, relax in front of a roaring fire and enjoy an afternoon tea with homemade mince pies and mulled wine before retiring to your room to unpack. Once refreshed, there will be a drinks reception of Bucks Fizz or sparkling wine giving you a chance to meet your fellow guests, following which a three course dinner will be served. To round off the evening there will be a festive quiz for both the locals and guests, then transport to and from the midnight mass at Kirkby Stephen parish church.
Christmas Day
A continental style breakfast will be served between 8.30-9.30 am in the restaurant, then there will be time for opening presents, playing games, gentle strolls or even a spot of fell running! before we meet in the bar for a pre-luncheon sherry at 12.45pm. A traditional six course Christmas dinner will be served at 1pm. The rest of the day is yours, relaxing with a good book, spend the afternoon with the Queen or a brisk walk. A buffet will be served at 7.30pm, we have a well stocked bar, a wide selection of literature and traditional bar games such as bar skittles and shove ha'penny to keep you relaxed and entertained throughout the evening.
Boxing Day
A hearty Cumbrian breakfast will be served between 8.30-9.30am, there is an opportunity to do a little local exploring before returning to the hotel to for a late lunch at 3.00pm, leaving time for a short rest before departing for the theatre at 5.30pm. We will be taking you to Kendal Brewery Arts Centre to see the festive and funny pantomime "A (Brewery) Christmas Carol" by Sam Mason. On your return there will be a light buffet (more food) for supper and a night cap of mulled wine to help you sleep.
Optional 4th Day
Breakfast will be served between 08.30 & 09.30am, and then it is time to leave and say goodbye, unless you have chosen to join the guests from our sister hotel - The Fat Lamb Inn - for this optional fourth day. You will be joining them on a vintage coach tour through the picturesque Eden valley to Houghton Hall Garden Centre where you will visit the amazing "A World in Miniature Museum", before partaking of afternoon tea and a little light retail therapy, prior to returning to the Black Bull. In the evening you will once again join the guests from the Fat lamb for dinner followed by a wild night of gambling in their "Casino" with roulette wheel and black jack table just some of the highlights, and prizes for all.
